Renaissance Patterns for SD

2/9/2016

The pattern Tutorial for my version of an Italian Renaissance gown is up.   The patterns were designed to fit my Elfdoll Ryung. She's an older Elfdoll model, but the gowns made with the patterns also fit my Supia Rosy. She has a slimmer body, so the dress is a bit more roomy on her.

The Tutorial is rather lengthy, so the headdress, hat, and hood instructions are not included. They will be part of the EID Renaissance Gown Tutorial since all the dolls have relatively similar sized head circumferences. The EID Tutorial will include all the patterns for the larger size gown, but it will not have the detailed instructions, since it's made exactly the same way as the SD version. So the headdresses will be covered there.

Martha, thank you so much for this! I've been wanting to learn how you make these dresses for forever. I just know I'm going to end up with one for every single SD size I have lol

I love the dresses. Your pattern and the tutorials are always great.

My girlfriend and i tried to dress her porcellain repro doll with a gown inspired by your wonderful EID-gowns and now her little lady is the queen of the living room.

Thanks! I love these gowns too, and still have so much fabric that was purchased with the intent of being turned into more of them. But life happens.

I'd love to have some of these gowns in MSD size too! The bodice pattern is what matters most, and I do have some MSD patterns on my Tutorials page. Maybe one of those bodices would work as a jumping off point?

Oh my goodness, what a treat!! I've long adored these dresses and wished I had the means to make one for myself, but couldn't figure out how to start on such a complicated pattern. My largest lady is a Feeple65--a bit smaller than an EID and a bit bigger than a typical SD--but I am sure I can make adjustments to suit. Thank you for this wonderful gift!

It's really not very difficult. The gowns I've made also fit my SID doll, and the doll with the Soom Super Gem body - without any adjustment.

I'd suggest starting by making a test underdress bodice to see how it fits, and then make any necessary adjustments from there.
