Queen of the Castle

We went to the Guild Inn Ruins Garden yesterday afternoon in order to do a photo session of Asa as 'Queen of the Night'. Such an elaborate gown needed just the right place as a setting, and it was the perfect choice. The Ruins Garden is tucked into the woods on a bluff overlooking the lake, and is filled with all kinds of interesting architectural stone 'ruins' salvaged from demolished old buildings.    Here are some of my favourite photos of my Queen ......

I think the ruins were the perfect regal setting for my beautiful Queen, so I took a lot of photos. It was nice that there was hardly anyone there, so I didn't feel self-conscious carrying around my Asa and taking photos everywhere. I guess it was still too soon in the season, as this place is often used for events, and wedding photos all summer and autumn.  But it's best with no one there, so then I can lay flat on the concrete to take photos like the last one above. Now I will have to make an album with all my favourites.

But first, there's a doll show within driving distance today. The Greater Toronto Doll Show in Oakville. I've never been to it before, but since doll shows are rarer than hen's teeth these days, I'm going to make the effort to go to any within a reasonable driving distance. It's always fun hunting for furniture and props.

Oh wow, she looks so beautiful. The ruins really are a perfekt background to show this amazing outfit.

She's an exquisite dream . . . brought to life by your wonder filled hands, Martha. These would make gorgeous poster sized photos for a doll room! Out of all of your gorgeous creations, this is one of the most outstanding . .
You really should offer some prints or large size posters of your favorites. The pictures of enchanting reverie brought to being . .

This is definitely one of the most elaborate costumes I've made.

I don't know about posters. Maybe a photo book someday.

Your queen is lovely and the ruins make a beautiful background for her! How do you carry her around in a setting like that and keep her from getting disheveled?

She was laying in a box in the car and as we walked to the garden, but once there I just carried her around, either holding her at the waist, or by her feet and stand.

Oh what a wonderful place for photography (for big and small) you could not have asked for a more fitting setting!
And that last photo was so worth getting on the floor for! You must be thrilled with these photos *happy sigh*

I hope the doll fair was worth the effort too!

Oh yes, this place is used for all kinds of formal photography, so I was very happy that there was no one there. I think it was the perfect place for a photo-shoot - at least the closest I'm ever going to get to anything resembling a palace suitable for my Queen.

I took an awful lot of photos, and am still working my way through them. Once I'm done I'll make an album with all the photos.

No, the doll show wasn't that great. But you don't know if it will be good or not unless you go look.

*Oh bother* about the doll meet....but I agree with you, it is better to know is wasn't good than wonder if it was.

And thank you so much for the album of extra photos, I swear I could almost hear the rustle of her 'taffeta' undergarments as she roamed the ruins!
Fabulous photos, in a fabulous setting with a fabulously costumed doll....wow!

Well, even if I didn't find anything worthwhile this year, doesn't mean there won't be something next year.

Yes, I posted most of the ruins photos in an album. Glad you found them.
