Progressing on Bianca's Gown

2/8/2018

I'm very happy with how Bianca's gown is coming along. I decided to bead the upper edge of her bodice, after embellishing it with matching embroidery, and finished that the other day....
Picture
Then I sewed on the shorter, main skirt.  I decided to bead the entire edge, starting at the middle front, going down, and working my way all the way around. It's taking me awhile, but I like the way the beading gives the skirt some weight so it hangs better.... and it's something mindless to do in the evenings while listening to the TV.....
Picture
The intention is for this outfit to serve multiple purposes by mixing and matching the various layers. The main dress can be worn alone (with a slip I have yet to make). And I see that I really need to get her some silver shoes - I only have black and gold ones, and neither will do....
Picture
Yesterday I made the long underskirt. The top of the skirt is designed with a 'yoke', so that the skirt fabric can be pleated at her hip level instead of adding way too much bulk at her waist. That's a useful design element, since I had three yards of the beautifully edged sari fabric for the skirt...
Picture
The next step will be designing some long hanging sleeves - or an off-the-shoulder cloak - from the two remaining sari corners.  The biggest challenge will be figuring out a way to keep them/it up, because I'm afraid that if I connect them to the top of the bodice, the weight might pull it down. And we can't have that.

I'm really loving this doll, and am seriously considering getting her a guy during the current FID order period, now that there's a new slimmer body choice available.  I've always loved Rex, especially the EID version with the 'Special Forces' face up.

Dress looks amazing! It's going to be a stunner. I was looking at a doll I liked on Pinterest and he turned out to be a Rex from Iplehouse. He's mighty nice looking.

Yes, he is! Rex is my all-time favourite Iplehouse guy. Unfortunately he wasn't available in FID size back when I got my Lawrence.

That dress is gorgeous! Silver shoes will set it off perfectly--perhaps with some beading/embellishments in the hot pink and turquoise of the dress added. Lovely work, thank you for sharing.

Lovely work as ever. She has settled in really well to your doll family hasn't she.

Right now she's all on her own, because this size only works with other dolls this size, and I've not put her with the other two yet. But I really love her - she's by far my favourite of the three - and I'm thinking of getting another guy, also with an IH face up.

She is my favourite of the three too *shhh*

Sometimes a doll on their own works really well as all our attention can be focused/lavished on them.
But I must admit when I was looking on the Iplehouse site earlier this week I saw a guy that I thought would work really well with this girl.

The thing is, I ordered Miho when the first three FID ladies came out, and she was my favourite at that time, although she didn't have very nice face up options. But IH has come out with lots more nicer ones since then. Same with the guys.

There's some really nice FID guys now, and I especially like that there's a choice of bodies. I like the newer, slimmer one much better.

She's beautiful, I can see why she's your favorite. And the gown is exquisite too - wonderful work! Love the color combination, and all of the delicate glittery beading and sequins.

The gown is wolderful and the beading is definitely the icing on the cake.

I've ordered Bianca last weekend and can't wait to get her. I'm not sure about her dress yet, but i will need shoes. What size do you recommend?

Congratulations! I'm sure you'll love her.

I don't know much about shoe size, but was told the shoes for Tonner's 22" American Model will fit. But I've heard some won't. It's all an expensive exercise in hit and miss.

Thank you :-)

I'll try and report about the shoes. Maybe i'm lucky and snatch something within Europe. That would reduce the costs severely.
