Poultry Day

3/19/2019

March 19th is 'National Poultry Day', and Willie had invited the Foxes for a chicken dinner.
"First we need to go out and catch one..."
So Willie sprinkled some seed, and gave Rhett a net......
Picture
"You can catch that rooster. I'm so fed up with his crowing so early every morning."
Picture
"Don't scare him, or he'll start running....and we don't want a tough bird."
Picture
So Rhett quietly snuck up on the distracted rooster.....
Picture
...and caught him!!
Picture
He quickly dispatched him (humanely) and Willie took him inside to roast him.
When it was done, they all gathered round the table for dinner....
Picture
"You know....he looks so much bigger now that he's cooked."
Picture
"Well, I accidentally made double my stuffing recipe, and I didn't want to waste it, so I rammed it all in.  I think I may have stretched him a little."
Picture
"Well, he looks delicious!!"

Oh, no! Tell me the rooster was tofu (said the vegetarian - laugh).
I love the photography.

Don't worry. He's plastic, so they couldn't eat him if they wanted to.

Besides creating delightful stories, one of your goals must be to make me laugh every day! You're very successful at both!

Well, they say laughter is the best medicine, and this story sure made me laugh while I was doing it.

It was supposed to be a simple photo for 'Poultry Day', and was going to use the turkey I'd made for the Gnome's Christmas.

Then I thought of using the plastic chickens for an outside scene. I hadn't even repainted those chickens yet, but decided to use them anyways. And why not have them using a net?? I mean, foxes certainly don't need one, but who cares?

Then when I was ready to post, I realized the roasted bird was so much bigger, and had to come up with an explanation before my detail-minded sister pointed it out, which meant shooting more for the dinner scene (which had already been dismantled)

Then I realized I wanted the fox to actually have caught the rooster, so went out again, with Jan holding him and the net, laughing at the sight of that rooster upside-down in the net. I did a lot of Photoshop work on the picture to remove Jan's hand, then realized I'd forgotten to attach the Fox's tail (it has magnets), and he didn't have his scarf on anymore either. Well, I can't have discrepancies like that - I know someone who would notice - so I popped his tail back on, tied on his scarf, and out we went again!!

So five photo sessions in all, just getting sillier all the time. Must have just been one of those days!

:D I like the "behind the scenes"- story even better than the actual photo story (which I like too :)
