This week's Iplekids Colour Challenge colour is Silver. I thought, "Oh great!, None of my dolls have anything in silver!" Who would ever choose silver as a colour for a group where most members just have little girl dolls? But JIDs count too, and I remembered my Kyle has silver chain-mail and a silver sword. Of course, that's not nearly enough for a silver theme. So I gathered my whole stash of swords, some silver fabric, and a little silver goblin, and then set Kyle to polishing all the swords....in the kitchen with the afternoon sun bouncing off the table.... Then I realized that when "Black" comes up I'll have to use Kyle with his black leather again, so took a new "Silver" this morning - this time in my living room with the morning light streaming in the big bay window, and the sun bouncing off my sewing machine. So now I need to choose one. Even though they are both very similar, they each say something completely different. The top one seems more like a scene out of a fantasy story with the focus on the sword - is Kyle polishing it for the Goblin, or is it a magical gift, presented to help him overcome some unknown foe? In the second photo Kyle looks more like someone working in the armoury, sighing at the sight of the huge pile of swords needing polishing.

The second one with the silver netting hanging is the better one. It shines way more silver than the first photo. To me it looks like he's at some sort of event (with a silver tent) and bringing out swords to sell, or clean for customers/knights. I think the silver tunic makes him look wealthier. The first image looks more like he's a servant in the house having to clean his masters swords.

The second one is definitely more "silver", but it's interesting that we have totally opposite takes on which photo makes Kyle look more princely.

I so much prefer the first photo for the theme as the focus is on the silver rather than Kyle.

It's interesting to hear everyone's differing opinions. I think I may just have to go back and post several photos for each colour in my Colour Album, as I did take more than one most of the time. Sometimes it was so hard to choose just one. And I'm the one setting my own "rules", so I guess I can change them.

In my opinion, the light of the first one is magical and it's the reason why I prefer this photo to the second one and also because the silver goblin looks better on this one and I prefer Kyle's pose. On the other hand, I too think that the second photo shines more silver than the first photo. I like also the fabric you have added on the background, I think it adds interest to the photo and help focusing Kyle. Whatever you choose, both photos are great pics and you had a fabulous idea for the silver challenge.

Oh I do love how the light is bouncing off the sword in that first photo. And still some lovely light effects in the second one as well. Tough choice as to which photo to use. Why not both? Guess I'm not much help. :-{

I decided to allow multiple photos for a colour after all. Some colours still have just the one shot, but other colours had several, so I went back and added more to the album. Comments are closed.
