These first few photos were taken five days ago...
Today is 'National Nature Photography Day', and since we had to be in Oshawa this morning, we went to the Peony Gardens one last time, and I just wanted to share some of the photos I took.... It was the third time that we've gone there, and each time there were different varieties blooming. These first few photos were taken five days ago... These were taken today.... It's interesting how the colours fade as the flowers age.... The peonies that were orange last week, have faded to pale peach today.... As beautiful as all these flowers are, I think my absolute favourites are the tree peonies which bloomed two weeks ago, and photographed in the evening light....

There are so few good gardens anywhere, but this one is about a half hour drive in the centre of the third town over from us. The big attraction is the peony garden in early June. We go several times since the different varieties bloom at different times. Most of the tree peonies were already finished when they held the annual Peony Festival last weekend.

Yes, they are. We've been going for several years, and it's always a challenge to take fresh, new photos.
