One of those Weeks

There's not much doll-related going on around here right now.  It's been a rough week, but at least some of the news was good. Now to see if I can get some of the other issues to work themselves out. So, nothing new in the way of doll photos.

But my garden is looking beautiful, and that is always nice. After several years of not being able to buy impatiens, due to the fact that they were all diseased, I'm finally able to get them again. I always preferred the regular impatiens to the New Guinea variety, because they bloom much better in my shady backyard. I have them planted in pots in and around my garden.....

I love flowers, but not too many can handle my backyard.  But there are a few that can....

The day lilies are starting to bloom, although there doesn't seem to be too many....

But the hostas are certainly making up for it. I've never seen so many buds....

I think I've finally decided what to do with my FIDs.  After going back and forth about them several times - including bringing them to Charie's, and then changing my mind - I think I will get them partially painted after all, and use them as costume models.  I have so much fancy fabric that needs to be made into gowns, and I want to try making some for the FIDs. Maybe they will go better than gowns for the bigger girls. And if that doesn't pan out, I can always sell them afterwards.  Now watch me go and change my mind yet again.

Anyway, I need to clean my house as I'm getting grand babies over for the weekend, so need to baby proof everything. Which means cleaning up my work spaces, and all the stuff lying about.

Thanks! It's the constant doctor visits, and drug reactions that are taking a huge toll.

Hi Martha, I'm new to your blog but just wanted to say, thank you for doing what you do, and sharing your amazing creations with the world. You take such wonderful photos, and your dolls and doll costumes are truly phenomenal. I'm sorry to hear that it's been a rough week for you. Here's to everything working out, now and in future. :)

It's great that you have impatiens now. They're breathtaking, as is your entire garden! And it's fantastic that you're going to use the FIDs as models. Can't wait to see what you make for them. Have fun with your little visitors! Hope the tidying up goes smoothly.

All the best,
Orchid

Thank you for your lovely note! I'm hoping to get out of this slump soon, and get back to my dolls. It feels like forever since I've taken any new doll photos.

I'm so glad to be able to grow regular impatiens again. For a few years there was a fungal disease that wiped them all out, so I had to use the New Guinea variety. But they don't bloom as well in the shade, and they are far more expensive. Looks like the growers have conquered the disease, and it's back to my favourite variety.

Of course, anytime! That sounds like no fun at all... please feel better! The photos will come when the time is right. :) (For what it's worth, I'm way behind on photographing my own dolls... sigh.)

Urgh, it's horrible that the disease did so much damage. Glad your favorite impatiens are back to growing! By the way, I love your two latest posts--it looks like you all had a lot of fun! The capes you made for your grandchildren are absolutely adorable. :D

I love to see photos of gardens just as much as I love to doll photos.......so thank you.

And good luck in settling down with the new medication....I hope (as I am so late in visiting your site) that your body has started to adjust to them now and that you feel more yourself *fingers crossed*

Things still haven't settled down. I reacted to the meds the one specialist prescribed, and he said I was "a nut who needed to get over my fear of drugs". My own GP laughed when I said it was irritating my liver, and causing a lot of pain. The nutritionist said not everyone can tolerate that drug, and that things like stress and pain will raise blood sugar levels. The cardiologist said it was likely my liver couldn't metabolize that drug. So, some doctors listen, while others are jerks. So I'm trying something natural - without telling anyone - but it seems to react with the BP meds, and I get really sick two hours after taking them, and it lasts for at least four hours or so before I feel decent again.

Oh Martha.....I am so sorry to hear all this (which I know doesn't help one iota) but I don't know what else to say ((hugs)) xxx

I don't really like to share all my personal stuff online, but it's gotten to the point where everything is affecting my drive and creativity - have none of either. So we are going away for a few days up north, to see if that helps - and to test 'diabetic eating' on a trip, before attempting something longer. I've chosen a bunch of dolls who will 'go camping' with us for a few days. And I'm bringing a box of yarns so I can knit if I feel like it.
