When I shoot in RAW the images still look very dark at first, but at least they can be fixed in Photoshop.
Whenever we are in Newfoundland, we like to take the drive through the wilderness to the town of Burgeo. It's very remote, on the south coast. There's a provincial park there with a beautiful sand beach. And who should we spot riding there, but Rex and Bianca..... *and Jan's photo of them..... This photo is a prime example of why I shoot everything in RAW instead of the regular jpg format like most people's cameras do (including Jan's). With the figures back-lit on a bright sunny day, as in this photo shoot, they appear mostly just black. In many places it's possible to just move a little, and shoot the dolls from a different angle, so there aren't so many harsh black shadows, but on that beach there was no other option.

What a beautiful setting. The honeymooners are quite good horse riders. My favorite photo is the one of Rex looking directly at the camera. How handsome he is.

Oh, sorry. I just think of them as newly wed as they are so sweet together.

I was just posting the photos in the order they were taken, and probably should never have posted their wedding photos, until the very end.

I love your own sense of adventure in searching out all these wonderful locations.

It helped having been to Newfoundland before, so I had certain places in mind for doll photos, before we even went.

Dear Martha, I love the wedding photos. I loved seeing them. The other photos are flashbacks to before the wedding. Sorry I keep jumping ahead. I am a softy for a "Hallmark" moment (smile).

I really thought hard about whether I would process ALL the photos first before showing any, and put their story together, and then present it, but it would have meant people waiting months to see any trip photos (other than of the kids) with nothing else new before then. I also can't be taking new photos at home while I still have hundreds from the trip to process. So I opted for out of order, as they were taken, and even that is taking a lot of time every day.

It's amazing what you are able to do with a photo taken in RAW format!

It's not that hard, but it sure makes a difference. The thing with RAW is that I get to choose the settings for my photos instead of the camera choosing for me. Comments are closed.
