Not Much Left

What a difference a day makes! Today the temperature has shot up to over 13C in the shade! It's warm and sunny, the birds are singing, and you can almost stand and watch the piles of snow shrink as they melt away. Elin and Bonnie went to check on their fort and snowmen, but it was a sad sight....just a wet, dirty mess.....

And of course, tonight the temperature is going way down again as we are supposed to get yet another snow storm, with strong winds and temperatures not going above -10C. Welcome to spring!

I have just two days left to get everything ready, so I'm taking a bit of time to submit a couple of photos to Springbok's annual Photo Contest. Here's a few I'm considering.....

WOW!!!!!! FABULOUS photos.

I don't know what that second one is of, but I want that puzzle!

I know you'll get another win.

Thanks! It's handy having 9 years worth of photos to choose from. That second photo is of a glass sculpture by Chihuly from an exhibition of his work in Phoenix Botanical Gardens in Arizona, in the spring of 2010. I suspect Springbok would need his permission if they chose that one. I also submitted three different Tea Party shots (one shown above) since Springbok still seems to be toying with the original photo I submitted two years ago. Figured I'd try a few different views from the same photo shoot. Plus, I can do so much better photo editing now with CS6.

All the photos are stunning ! I vote for the tea party and the blue poinsettia. Had never seen any blue one before !

The nice thing about their annual contest, is that they keep all the submissions and even consider non-winning images at a later date. I've seen several of my non-winning entries in their surveys recently.

I only saw those blue poinsettias one year. I think they sprayed them with blue dye, as they really weren't blue to start with. I think they used the plants with cream and pink bracts. You can see that the new bracts opening in the centre don't have the blue dye.

They are all fascinating. It would be hard for me to choose which one I like best, but I lean towards the yellow glass sculpture, because it looks like it would take a long time to work.

That yellow glass sculpture would be extremely difficult, especially as a large puzzle.

Awwww....bless the girls! They look so 'down' about the melting snow!
But oh no! Not another snow storm on the way?! *gasp*

And I had to look up what the 'Springbok's annual Photo Contest' was.....good luck!
