Niagara Falls

Saturday was a beautiful sunny day - minus five seemed almost balmy compared to how cold it's been the past month. I'd heard so much about how beautiful Niagara Falls was because of all the ice that formed as a result of the extreme cold all of February, so we decided to go see for ourselves. Seems like millions of other people had the same idea, since it was extremely busy. In fact I've never in my whole life seen it so busy there. It was so crowded that we'd have to work our way through the crowds, and hover, ready to jump in when someone moved away from the railing. But what a sight.... The American Falls were almost completely frozen over....

I had brought along three dolls, but it was challenging to find a good place to take photos with them, as it was so very crowded. But I wasn't too concerned about people watching, since there was no avoiding it. In fact, as I was ignoring all the people, I heard "look, so cute!" so often, and other people even started taking photos of the dolls.....

The far edge of the Horseshoe Falls looked very impressive.
Everything on our end was covered with a thick layer of ice from the frozen mist...

Yes, Niagara Falls is beautiful anytime, but I especially like it in winter. Of course it also depends on how cold it gets, and this past February was the coldest February on record.

I think I'm getting better at taking doll photos in public. Maybe the more I do it, the more used to it I get. And people are mostly just curious and don't make derogatory remarks.

Your Niagra Falls pix are gorgeous. It's been so long since I've been there and never when it was frozen. Just beautiful. Your girls make a beautiful counterpoint of color against the cool background. Just love them. :o)

Thanks! As usual, when I get home, I wish I'd taken more photos.

What beautiful photos! Niagra Falls are truly awesome. The sense of their power when you're standing where Nami and Byuri are is almost overwhelming.

I'm glad you ignored all the people around you and took photos anyway!

It's an awesome spot, right there at the brink of the Falls, with the water rushing by just on the other side of the railing. It boggles the mind though, that even with the 'Danger' signs, people still climb up on the railings, or put their kids up there for photos.
