My Snow Princess

I finished reworking the Snow Queen costume for my Hope, so I took her out
first thing this morning (before it got too hot) to take some photos, but it was
too sunny. Definitely not the right look for a winter Princess.....

So I tried again inside, in front of my kitchen curtains.

But the lighting was rather poor, so her back-lit white hair ended up not working. Then I
found a different wig - a very long, dark brown, human hair one. And in the afternoon,
the sunlight bouncing off the kitchen windowsill, produced a much better lighting....

So I photographed her in front of the curtains again.     She looks so much nicer!!

I received a "Shipping Notice" for my Whispering Grass Racoon last week, but he's still not showing up on tracking.  Kind of expected he wouldn't. I know that "shipping notices" from Jpopdolls aren't really notices that the doll has shipped - it just means they've printed out the shipping label, and that automatically triggers Paypal to send me an email giving me the tracking number for whenever the parcel gets taken to the Post Office. Sigh. With them it's always, wait, wait, and wait while the months pass, the expected delivery date comes and goes, then wait some more. I ordered the Raccoon back in October, last year, and the estimated delivery date was "April/May". But I know better than to count on those dates. It wouldn't be so bad if there was some communication, or updates on shipping delays, but there never is. And they even have a Pre-Order Status chart on their website - but it doesn't get updated with new arrival dates when the original dates come and go.  I find it all very frustrating and quite unpleasant, and it rather ruins the excitement of getting a doll, but unfortunately it's the only place one can get the little ball-jointed animals by Whispering Grass. So I have to put up with it. But other than maybe a few more animals by this wonderful artist, I certainly won't be buying anything else from them.

I'm getting way too old to wait 8 to 10 months for a doll to arrive. There's enough other beautiful dolls out there, and they come in a mere fraction of the time. Now Iplehouse - there's a company worth buying from. And Junkyspot. And the secondary market....

She is very beautiful like that.
For dolls to be waited I completely agree with you, too I find that I am too old to wait for so long ............ :o))

Beautiful!

Yeah, this is NOT a hobby for the impatient. I am still waiting for a special doll I ordered two years ago. She will be worth the wait (and we just got notice that the final prototype has been approved), but you do catch yourself thinking you just threw money away.

The majority of my dolls come from Denver Doll, Junky Spot or Mint on Card.

There's "patience" and then there's "patience". I'm actually a very patient person, and have waited a very long time for dolls, and then again for face ups, but the older I get, the less patience I seem to have for super long waits, especially when there's zero news or communication. If it's possible to have almost immediate gratification, then I'll choose that route instead.

About the waiting... I totally forgot I preordered in March and am moving. Jpop doesn't respond to emails either. I have reason to believe that the dolls are produced in Chinese factories. Therefore, production will be behind and time tables will be inaccurate. Not to mention all the dolls that are being taken on at one time. There's always a jpop preorder for something. They would benefit from a customer service department but then costs go up. I guess you really have to WANT something from them to endure the wait.

Yes, they are produced in China, and I know they have a different work ethic there. The wait wouldn't be so bad IF there was actual communications and updates. There is a Preorder Update chart on the Jpop site, but it doesn't get updated. My Raccoon had an estimated arrival date of April/May, but at no time was that ever updated, even months after the estimated date had passed. How long does it take to give updates in a timely fashion? There are so many things I find wrong with their system of doing business, that unless I REALLY badly want one of their dolls, the frustration isn't worth the trouble at all. And even then it's starting to not be worth it.

If you've pre-ordered a doll in March, you can expect to wait to at least Christmas, if not longer, so yes, they'll need your new address. You can contact them through the Jpop site, but it's a rather lengthy process to sign in. I did that last month, asking about the status of our Raccoons, and they sent me an email. I think it was a day or two later.

Hey Martha,

I did a bit of looking around online and I did find an etsy shop for Whispering Grass where you're able to pick up full sets. You might also be able to message the artist about putting up a specific doll that you're looking for so you can buy it and shortcut the JPop issue:

Your Snow Princess looks amazing :) So glad to see this costume on a BJD!

Hope is a wonderful Snow Princess. I'm so glad, you could change the costume for her.

I hope, your racoon will be shipped soon.

Thanks!

They sent me the 'shipping notice' last week, but tracking shows they still haven't even taken him to the Post Office yet - only that they've printed out the shipping label.

I love her in your last photo of her in this fabulous costume. That human hair wig so suits her.
And that snow princess dress so suits her too! Wow!

And I can't stand long waits with no communication either! In fact it is one of my pet peeves! It is common courtesy to keep a customer informed throughout a pre-order period.

I so hope your raccoon really is shipped to you very soon *fingers crossed*

I like that last photo best too.

My Racoon was finally taken to their Post Office - a week after I received their 'shipping notice', but it hasn't moved at all. On the other hand, I received a shipping notice on Friday for the two Iplehouse dolls I ordered two weeks ago, and they've already landed in Mississauga (Toronto Airport). If tomorrow wasn't a holiday, I'd be getting them tomorrow. Like, how fast is that!!!
