More Fairies in the Garden

I had been waiting for decent weather to take the three JID fairies to the Ruins Gardens for pictures. So we went yesterday afternoon. But there was no way to get to it. I knew the Guild Inn had been sold, and would be undergoing renovations, but there were also two big new buildings under construction. The old Park entrance is a muddy construction entrance, and there's no way to drive to the back parking lot. There is a pathway along the west side, but there's no parking allowed on either side of the very narrow street. The only way to go now, would be to park in the high school parking lot that's at the west end of the woods, on a weekend when theres no one there, and walk along the street to the path, and then down to the lake.  What a HUGE disappointment. I mean, it's nice the Guild Inn is being saved, but what's going to happen with the Ruins garden?

So, the only place left to take doll photos was either in the woods, or in my backyard. I didn't feel like getting down in the woods, so that left my backyard.  The backyard is all bare and ready for winter, and there's not much left that works as a background for doll pictures.....

But there's still one tiny spot, at the base of the bridal wreath spirea, which still has most of it's tiny yellow leaves. It's where I shot the Kaye Wiggs fairies last week, and hadn't planned on using again for these JID fairies. But with no choice, out in the back we all went....

Your fairies are amazing. I love the dresses.

I hope, the Ruins garden will stay open. It's such a beautiful background for your wonderful dolls and dresses.

Thank you!

I'm hoping that after the construction is finished at the Guild Inn, that the Ruins Garden will be more accessible again, and hopefully still open to the public.

What a shame about the Ruins Garden.....I so hope the new company take on the maintenance of them as they were just so unique. And I guess a well known place for bridal photos!

But these photos are just lovely and I really am so pleased that you got your outdoor shots of the dark fairies before the snow came.

And your garden works so well for doll photos. I am particularly impressed with the planning behind the doll photo places......they are raised! No grovelling on the ground for you like I have to do with garden shots of my dolls. Wow!
I am going to have to sit down and see it I can make some serious plans for change this winter about my small garden, as my knees are not getting any younger! LOL!

I'm hoping once the construction is done at the Guild Inn that it will be easier to get to the Ruins Gardens again. Right now there's no place at all to park, so we can't get there unless I feel up to a really long walk.

Our backyard is cut into a hill, so the back garden is elevated, which is great for doll photos. Only problem is that it's a shade garden with mostly hostas, many of which have leaves as big as the dolls themselves, so I can't use it in summer, other than by setting up on the table on the patio, and just having the garden in the background. The rest of the year there's that ugly fence showing. Some winters Jan has gathered all the discarded Christmas trees off the street, cut them to size, and mounted them in the upper garden as a 'winter forest' background.

Yes, the Ruins Garden was a popular spot for wedding, and other formal photography. I expect with the building of a convention centre it will become even busier.
