We are back home again after a week up north enjoying the fall foliage. We had spent the night at my brother's cottage for Thanksgiving, then left early the next morning before sunrise, to catch the mist rising off the lakes at dawn....with the moon setting above the horizon....

We spent the rest of the day driving north to get to Lake Superior, since the next day was going to be the only good weather day all week, stopping to make dinner at sunset along the north shore of Lake Huron....

Thank you. We love it up north, and it's especially beautiful in the fall.

Clear, cold nights make for mist rising on all the rivers and lakes - before the sun burns it all off. We were just lucky to come across these scenes when it was early enough that there wasn't much traffic, so we could pull over and I could get out to take photos.

The sunset is at one of our favourite picnic spots along the Trans Canada Highway close to Sault Ste Marie.
