Mice in the Flowers

With it being so cold now, I figured it is just a matter of time before frost kills the last few flowers still blooming in my garden. Better to take advantage of them and take lots of photos while I still can. So yesterday I took my three little mice out for some more photos.
Picture
I wired their arms by inserting a very thin wire through their body into both arms. Even thought the mice were very posable, they wouldn't hold their pose, and they definitely couldn't hold anything, as everything was "too heavy" for their tiny light little arms. It seems much better now.

I've made a new Favourite Photos album with all the photos of my Manuna Mice taken so far. It's accessible by clicking on the photo  above.

Well, it seems I have my time back. We went hunting for fancy butterflies for fairy wings for my special birthday project last night, and there's none to be found. Which means that project goes on hold until I find some nice affordable, fancy butterflies some day. Making the wings myself is not an option, especially in the very limited amount of time I had, so now with that project on hold, I have my time back, and can focus on the tiny Hallowe'en costumes I had planned.

I just looked at all the mice photos, they are all a delight, I am a fan of your mice !
Wiring them is an excellent idea and if I have the courage to try, I'll do it also. Could you explain me how to do it ? Did you fix the wire somewhere or is it just following the elastic from the wrist to the other wrist ?
Yesterday I forgot to ask about the bench where Hope is seated. Did you make it ? It is really nice.

My husband made that bench.

To wire the arms, I cut a long piece of thin wire. It didn't work to start at one wrist and go through all the way to the other one. I had to start at the body and go out past one hand. Then I inserted the other end through the other arm out the other hand, pulling both ends to straighten the wire. I cut the wire off at one wrist, and carefully pulling on the other end, pulled it a bit further up into the lower arm, so the end of the wire wouldn't scrape the resin of the hand. Then I pulled the long wire out the other hand a bit further out, cut it off at the wrist, and pushed the sharp end back up into the lower arm a bit.

I've just done it. What an improvement ! Thank you so much for the tip and the explanation.
Your husband make beautiful things too !

That's great! Just make sure those sharp ends aren't sticking out and rubbing on those tiny resin hands. I'm hoping the ends of the wires don't fray the elastic, but if they do, then I guess I'll have to learn to restring.

I am a great fan of wiring my dolls especially the arms, well done on finding wire thin enough but strong enough to work on the mice.

And I love your little mice too.....I hope you a few more frost free nights so you can enjoy your flowers a little longer.
And have fun working on the Halloween costumes for your girls!
