In the photo story, Mary wore a blue dress with a red cape and a white stand-up collar, which served as basic colour inspiration for a much fancier dress for the doll version...
In every Fantasy story there has to be a force of good to help the heroes along. In the Magic Talisman it was the Sorceress Marwendalyn, who was played by my five year old daughter Mary... Apparently she really hated wearing that wig, and after the story was finished, I cut the wig apart to make the wig for my doll version. In the photo story, Mary wore a blue dress with a red cape and a white stand-up collar, which served as basic colour inspiration for a much fancier dress for the doll version... The dress had gold fabric 'spots' appliquéd then stitched with satin and straight stitch on the sewing machine to resemble peacock feathers. It's always been one of my all time favourite doll dresses. She was made in September 1989. I did make two other versions of that same dress, one on a larger cloth doll, and a second on a sculpted art doll, both of which sold long ago. I would sure love another for one of my BJDs.

Oh, I love that dress! I seem to remember you made a peacock feather embellished dress for one of your granddaughters' dolls, too. When I was little my mother sewed mother-daughter dresses for herself, me, and my little sister who was about two at the time. They had a lovely peacock feather print. Cute doll and beautiful doll dress!

Yes, I made some peacock dresses for my granddaughters OG dolls. I had purchased some peacock print capes at Halloween, specially to make the doll dresses out of.

LOL. She lost one of her front teeth halfway through the photo shoot.

All of your doll costumes for this series are amazing. It's easy to see a lot of love went into them. This one reminds me of a simpler version of your Queen of the Night costume for Narae (or was it for a JID?).

My JID Asa is Queen of the Night. It's funny you should mention Narae, as my intention when I ordered my Butterfly Harare was that she would become the daughter of the Queen of the Night, with a similar gown, but in pinks. Of course that never did happen.

Mary looks adorable, even in the wig she didn't like.

Mary's full name is Mary Anne Wendalina. She was named after my sister Marianne, and given my Mom's second name. So the sorceress was given a combination name. Comments are closed.
