Lovely Elin

I've been too busy sewing to take any new photos, so I thought I'd go to my 'back-up folder' with black and white photos. So here's Elin, my lovely, very first BID, who started it all....
Picture
I have so many things on the go right now, and I find that can be a bit overwhelming.  I much prefer to finish one thing at a time, and then move on to the next project.

I took photos of the BID pink corduroy outfits, but am waiting to post them for sale when the KID outfits are finished.

The KID outfits are almost completely done, but I had run out of several colours of crochet thread for the matching hats. We went to our long awaited Michaels store, which is one of those "50%" stores, in that it just carries SOME of the standard Michaels merchandise - meaning it rarely has what I need. And of course, they don't sell any crochet thread.  Which meant a trek to the Michaels in Whitby, but first I thought we'd try Walmart. Success!  Not only did they have several of the colours I needed, but they were a lot cheaper than at the far Michaels.

So today I changed all three KIDs into the new sundress sets, and was working on the crochet hats, but when I went to water the garden, the giant cow parsnip flower was starting to open, and I thought it would be perfect for a 'flower fairy' photo. Which means I need a fairy outfit. I first thought I could use the pink lace dress with a set of pink butterfly wings, but decided I really wanted a real flower fairy outfit. So the crocheting came to a sudden halt, as I pulled out fabrics for a flower fairy dress.

I'm also struggling with either allergies, or a cold. Can't tell yet which it is. I don't usually suffer from allergies, but there's always a first time.

The next commission is going to be a Musketeer outfit for Iplehouse Tedros, who is the biggest doll I own. But I won't be starting until July, as next week Jan has off and is supposed to be painting some of the rooms on the main floor. I suspect I'll need to be helping with a lot of moving and cleaning, plus everything from those rooms will end up in my work space, so I don't think there's going to be much sewing happening.  I'm really hoping my doll case will finally get re-wired and reorganized so all my BJDs can go in it. That alone would be worth all  the upheaval.

Well, that's enough of a rant for today.  Time to have dinner, and then work on that flower fairy drew some more....

Hi there! I wanted to compliment you on your beautiful dolls and designs, and your most recent blog seemed a good place to put it! I found your site while looking for references and tutorials for Victorian style gowns. I read your creative journey (several times now!) and its been so helpful! I love BJDs, but sadly am never going trip have one of my own it seems. I've been costuming my 22" Revlon doll, and have been "trial and error-ing" my way through. You've been a marvelous inspiration to me and I wanted to thank you. <3 Also, your garden and home are quite lovely in the pictures as well! Can't wait to see your new stuff!

But onto happier thoughts......dolls! What a beautiful photo of Elin *happy sigh* and have fun sewing that fairy outfit!
