My granddaughters tried on their Hallowe'en costumes this weekend, and I took a few photos. I reworked the pink one a bit from when I made it 25 years ago for my daughter. The blue and purple one is brand new, made from fabrics I had in my stash. The only thing I had to buy were some sew-on jewels from Michaels. The costumes are a bit bulky-looking, but that's because they need to be big enough to wear a thick sweater or coat underneath. It's always very cold on Hallowe'en here, and it's a shame to cover up a costume by having to wear a coat over top.
Today is "Count Your Buttons Day", and because I took a photo back in the spring which is perfect for the theme, I'm just going to recycle it instead of trying to taking a new one...... What can I say - I have a headache today, and am feeling lazy. My granddaughters tried on their Hallowe'en costumes this weekend, and I took a few photos. Many seams needed to be reinforced, and it needed lots of tulle petticoats to help hold out the skirt. There was no headpiece, but my granddaughter is into pirates, so we decided she'd be a "Pirate Queen". I spiffed up a purchased pirate hat from the costume closet, and made a velour bandana to go underneath, because the hat is too big for her head, so now it will stay in place. She will need to wear a warm turtle-neck sweater underneath.

Your Granddaughters look so pleased with their costumes (and very clever to think of wearing the layers underneath!)
You must have incredibly happy granddaughters! I would have been in heaven to have a costume like that when I was a little girl. That's a really great idea to make them big so they can wear warm things underneath. Too many great costumes are hidden by a coat.
