Let's try that Again....

I have another new camera.  I ended up returning the T3 which I got two weeks ago. After trying it out and looking it over, I discovered a deal breaker - the data card went into the bottom of the camera in the same slot as the battery, and that little door would be covered by the shoe of my tripod, making it a total pain to constantly be removing the card to check my photos. No good.

So now I have a different model....the Canon Rebel EOS T8i....

This camera has many features that I actually prefer, so it looks like this one is a keeper. It will still take some getting used to, but I have started using it, and with far more success than the T3.

I still need to update my cataloguing system and switch to the new Photoshop, because some day when I  inevitably need a new updated computer, my old systems won't work anymore. But in the meantime our son has made it so the new image files will still work on my antiquated systems, so I can take my time easing into all the new technology.

I am so happy that you found a camera that works well and that you like. It is also good that you could return the old one.

The first one was purchased thru Amazon, and they always take returns. This new one comes from a camera store.

Don't you sometimes wonder what designers are thinking when they develop a new product? I'm happy you were able to return the first camera and that the second one is more "Martha friendly" (as in someone who actually takes many, many photos every day!).

It's also really nice that your son is so tech savvy and can modify things to make them work on your existing equipment.

Yes, sometimes 'new' isn't always 'better'. This new camera has the battery compartment at the bottom, but off to the side, so the tripod shoe doesn't cover it at all. It also has data card at the side, and many of the same buttons as my old camera. Plus it has a compact RAW option. It also has all kinds of new features that I'll need to learn about. But I'm not really comfortable with technology, so one thing at a time.

I could never deal with all these things without support from Mike. Not only is he super tech savvy, but he's also very patient and doesn't try to push things on me that I'm not ready for.
