Unknown to Aeran, her father has sent for his best friend's son to come and accompany her...
"What do you mean 'look after ME'?" huffs Aeran, "He better look out for himself!"
And so the Quest begins......
This afternoon I thought I'd tackle the first scenes of my story. The king is sending his only child, his beloved daughter Aeran off on a quest, to find the legendary "stone of power" which will help guarantee a long and peaceful reign, when she succeeds him, and takes the throne as Queen. The role of the King is being played by "MacBeth", one of my favourite art dolls. I wish they made BJDs that looked like him! I'd love a handsome, more mature man, but Art figures aren't exactly pose able. MacBeth was sculpted by my sister Marianne, and I did his costume and hair. His outfit was inspired by Mel Gibson in Braveheart, and he's the figure whose costume all my Celtic Maiden outfits were inspired by. Aeran's skirt and cloak are even from the same MacBeth tartan, although I over-dyed her's blue. Unknown to Aeran, her father has sent for his best friend's son to come and accompany her... I can just imagine Aeran rolling her eyes, "Oh Dad... why him!?!?" But she has no choice, and her father sees her off and wishes them both well on their journey.... "Now, you look well after my daughter," he admonishes Kyle, "She's all I have."
"What do you mean 'look after ME'?" huffs Aeran, "He better look out for himself!" And so the Quest begins......

Wow, that MacBeth is awesome! It's hard to believe he's made of Sculpey. He looks a bit like an older Mel Gibson. Like you, I wish your sister still enjoyed sculpting, if that is an example of what she can do.

My MacBeth always reminded me of Richard Kiley. My sister sculpted the most amazing men. You can see more of her men in the 'M&M OOAK Art Dolls' link on my Links page.

Lovely. I agree. I do with there were more mature male sculpts out there. I would love to find a burly dwarf to pair with my doll named Arula. Have even debated learning to sculpt so I could make it myself, but in among all the *other* things I have to do... ;-)

I've considered sculpting a BJD too, because I really like how my old art figures work with my dolls, and it would be so great if they were actually poseable. I wouldn't want to sculpt a BJD for production, but just for myself - but was totally put off by the idea of doing an entire doll. Plus I don't do "pretty or handsome realistic" well at all. I can do caricatures, so maybe if I could find a company that just sells a body - or a cheap whole doll - that would go with a figure I have in mind, and then sculpt a head to fit on it. It would be a great way to get some OOAK fantasy BJDs.

I wish they made more mature males like that for MSD dolls myself. Your sister is amazingly talented as are you.
