Joy to the World

Today is "Go Caroling Day", and all my little Iple girls are dressed in their warm sweaters
and hats, along with their new colourful scarves and mitts, to go out and entertain busy
holiday shoppers and other passers-by, with some festive holiday songs.

With a nasty three-day storm upon us, it's time to catch up and finish all those loose ends. There's still last-minute shopping to be done, but with freezing rain forecast for the next three days, we'll see when it's safe to go out. Maybe my girls will finally get the chance to decorate their tree. I bought three rather skimpy, but very realistic, trees at Michaels on super sale. Yesterday I finally had time to take them all apart and rework them into one tree. Now it needs a sturdy base, and then the lights and decorations can go in. But first there's some last minute costuming work to be done, so the new outfits can all be packed up and put away. I had to redo the waistband on one of my Summer Goddess slips, as my iron made a mess of one of them. I don't know where it's coming from, but my iron seems to have a mind of it's own and will melt brown spots onto the fabric from time to time. I have no idea what's causing it, and there's no way to remove it. I try remember to use a pressing cloth, which is a total pain, and then just when I think it's safe, there's the brown spots again. I think I need a new iron!

Oh those are stunning and so realistic! I could just go out with your little ones and sing with them (they can probably sing better than me tho!)

Re the iron, how annoying! Have you tried a brand of iron cleaner? Might be worth a try

Thanks!

We've cleaned the iron surface several times, and the gunk just keeps coming back. I'm thinking it's coming from the inside through the steam holes.

Oh you have been busy with all this knitting!

And what a lovely group of carol singers they all make.
I would have stopped and listened to them if they had been singing in my local shopping centre! LOL!

But I am sorry to hear about your iron troubles.......I recently had to replace an iron that kept doing that! *humph!*

I've really enjoyed the knitting, and found it very addictive, but I'm glad I'm finally finished everything I wanted to make (for now).

Not that I wish bad irons on anyone, but it is nice to know it isn't just me having this issue.

Martha I can't tell you how much I enjoy the wonderful photos you post. I'm a slacker and haven't posted on each one. But please know that it's a true joy to me and always bring a smile no matter what has been happening.

This Christmas is going to be a weird one for me as my Dad just died. I was in California for a while with my sisters and dealing with funeral, etc. It has cheered me immeasurably to come back home and look at all your wonderful pictures. Thank you for that gift!!

Hugs,

Jay

I'm so sorry about your Dad. Yes, the Holidays will be weird without him. I'm so glad my pictures help cheer you up some.

Such lovely carol singers ! They are so realistic that I can even hear them ! I like the Christmas trees that are behind them and the lights you put on the snow.

Thanks! I really loved knitting them from the needle-punch yarn, as it came in such nice colours, and works up so nice and soft. Lonnie's pink and cream scarf was the last one, so I'm finished knitting for now.

Your little girls are adorable Martha. Love all their beautiful knitwear.

I'd like to say thank you for the picot beading tutorial, I did my first neckline tonight and found it really easy. I love the effect. Raided my ancient stash of seed beads...had to do three colours so I had enough :) I'm going to post Layla's Christmas dress on RC and let everyone know how easy it was to do with your instructions. I can see me seed beading everything in sight when I top up my supplies lol Thanks so much for everything you share with us.

You are welcome! Picot beading is such a great, easy way to embellish an edge.
