Introducing Steve

I've had my second Iplehouse JID Owen home for ages, and really wasn't sure what I wanted to do with him. He had been given a thick, bushy moustache, so he needed a wig that would go with that.

I'd made hard wig caps months ago, before he was even painted, and finally took the plunge today. Actually yesterday, since that's when I sewed the mohair fringes. But today I cut and glued, and cut  and glued some more. Making a 'masculine-looking' wig is a HUGE challenge. It probably will still get a bit more fine-tuning, but here he is for now....

This guy was a challenge. He is my second Owen, and I needed him to look completely different, or at least as different as one can get with the exact same sculpt.  I had knit him a sweater on our last camping trip, thinking I'd take Isis and her kids, and her new guy on a fall trip with us.  But we never went on any trip, and when I did finally take him out of the box and make him some jeans and tried on the sweater, it was too small.  Well, it did fit, but rather tight, and the sleeves and length were too short. Which was just another setback.

So I started another sweater, but it won't be finished for a while yet.  So I got out the tux jacket. As soon as I put it on him, something whispered "Steve".  Okay, if that's what you want your name to be. I'd not been able to choose a name, so 'Steve' it will be.

​So outside we went for his first photos, and Isis came along. I really like his side view...

From the front still takes some getting used to, because I can't get my other Owen out of my head.

I find that his bushy moustache gives him a definite 'period' look, and I'll bet he'll look great with much longer hair, whenever I get around to making him his Fantasy outfit.
