Introducing Monica

I've spent much of today taking pictures, and getting to know my new doll....

First of all, she's a Raccoon Fashion doll. Never heard of them?  Well, Raccoon is owned by Sang Yoon Choi, who is also the primary sculptor. He originally worked for Iplehouse, and was responsible for some of my favourite sculpts there, including Asa, Rex, and Bianca.

In 2015 he went off on his own, and started Raccoon Doll, with his focus primarily on making the more mature looking, middle size Fashion dolls.

I was trying to not be very interested at first, since I was seriously trying not to get hooked on the new Fashion size dolls.

But I've always loved his Special Edition Temptation Monica. She was my favourite of all his dolls. So when the opportunity to get one presented itself, I just had to get her.
Picture
She's gorgeous, and was lucky Bianca was off with the Phantom, so she could borrow her pink gown. Monica is a little smaller in all her measurements, so the dress had to be pinned in the back.
Picture
I think she's definitely going to need some body blushing, and a manicure. She can't have such dull boring hands with such dramatic makeup. Speaking of....our two granddaughters were over for dinner last night, and Monica was seated on the sofa on my dining room table, waiting for her photo shoot today.  The girls always go to see what I have set up there. Teagan told me that she loved the makeup on "the doll in pink".
Picture
I only have five wigs her size, all in brown/black, and stole this one off of Miho....
Picture
I'm finding that she's a challenge to hold a pose. She's rather 'kicky', and I had to use eye putty to hold her hands in place for the photo above. She will definitely need some sueding. Maybe even some wiring.
Picture
She's most beautiful when looking straight into the camera.  A true Fashion model!

Oh, those stray hairs!!
Picture
It's interesting that in her profile shot above, I see the same profile as in some of Raccoon's Bebe dolls (comparable in size to Iplehouse BIDs)

She's going to need some kind of dramatic gown at some point. I'm rather busy with other things at the moment, so it's a good thing she has something to wear in the meantime.  I'll just keep looking at her to see what it is she'd like to have me make for her....

She really is beautiful and the dark hair suits her dramatic make-up! It's easy to see why you couldn't resist her.

Any fashion model would be delighted to have your photos in her portfolio!

What a pretty doll. I love her eye color. I thought she looked like the Iplehouse dolls and now it makes sense. I look forward to seeing what her story will be.

I had always envisioned her like in her promo photos, with auburn hair and blue eyes, but these are the eyes she came with, and I didn't have any others, plus buying eyes is a very expensive gamble. And these do look very nice.

I doubt there will be a 'story'. My Fashion dolls aren't really 'story' material, at least not in my mind. They just stand around looking beautiful.

I don't know. She looks like she has a story to tell or maybe there is a secret she is hiding.
I always think that when you pose the dolls at the ruins (is that what you call it. I can't remember now) that they are telling a story.

Dolls always look prettier once you get your hands on them. You have a gift for dressing and posing them that makes them look completely natural. I have several Raccoon dolls. While I wouldn't call any of them kicky, it's true that I don't require much of my dolls in terms of posing so I don't notice that sort of thing.

In addition to the dolls you mentioned, Sang Yoon Choi also sculpted Lawrence and Leonard while at Iplehouse. I love the Raccoon graphic on his doll boxes: Venus on the half shell, with raccoon ears and tail. The man definitely has a sense of humor.

Thanks! She definitely has possibilities, even though I had a really hard time getting her head and arms to stay in place. I just wanted to see what I could do with her. She will go for a body blush & manicure, and get sueded, so then she'll be more cooperative.

But she likely won't have to do anything more than just 'look beautiful' in glamour shots.
