Introducing Milo

I picked up my KID Milly boy a few days ago, and as with all older boy dolls I'm having trouble getting him to look as masculine as I'd like. Most sculpts are way too feminine, and the tiny necks don't help. I specifically chose Iplehouse's Milly sculpt because it is the most masculine-looking of all their KIDs. But boys have thicker necks in real life, and the KIDs all have very slender necks, so I've tried to bulk out his neck area with a turtle-neck and chain mail.

But wigs are the biggest challenge of all. There's no such thing as masculine boy wigs available anywhere. I had purchased two brown wigs for him - a short and longer one, for his contemporary and Fantasy personas, but in the end I decided he worked best as a blonde. And the one I have on him right now just says 'Joan of Arc' to me. But 'he' can't be a 'she', because he has a 'boy' body.  So I need to try make him a mohair wig more suitable to a rough and rugged boy.

He also needs some soft leather shoes to go with his pants and leggings.  Right now the black plastic 'frog shoes' he's wearing, look totally out of place.  Another option would be to make him a kilt, which he can wear with some nice tall leather boots I have. But I have to check to see if there's enough tartan fabric left over from his cloak. If not, then there's always the option of choosing a different tartan and making a new cloak, as well as a kilt.

I find him magnificent and I do not find that the wig in fact one Joan of Arc, it is a young boy and there are young boys in the frail appearance, the quotation of stitch masks well the neck and I find him very successful, you are very hard with yourself Martha :o))

I totally agree with Babel........I don't see girl either but a boy and a boy very like one of my nephew's. Not all boys are robust and stocky.
He has the face of an honest leader too!

And I love the detail on his costume *gasp*
Though I did laugh at the thought of him wearing black plastic 'frog shoes' with it!
Now that IS pure fantasy! LOL!

Thanks! I think it's just because I had so much trouble narrowing down his costume choices, remaking most of them, and then he was blank for so long, that it's taking a bit of time to see past all that.

I took out some new tartans, but none look very good. And he doesn't suit a kilt at all. So he's just going to stay how he is. I'm just going to keep my eyes open for a pair of appropriate brown shoes, but until then he's just wearing frog shoes.

I agree with everyone... Milo is a handsome boy! I love him as a blonde and it will be interesting to see what style wig you create for him. His costume is wonderful! I can just see him at the head of his little band of adventurers.

Black plastic 'frog' shoes... too funny!
