In the Ruins

I'd been waiting for some decent snow for months now, so I could take a few last photos in the Ruins Garden - ones I'd wanted to but hadn't been able to, since we'd not had any new snow since Christmas. So, even though it was extremely cold and very windy yesterday, with -20 wind chill, we ventured out to take them.  There was no one at the Ruins Garden, and the parking lot wasn't even plowed.

I had wanted a photo of Owen & Leona's family arriving at the castle for the dinner in my Christmas Story. I figured better late than never. It was so windy, and bitterly cold, that I just managed two photos, after both Owen and Coco were blown face-first into the snow. But that's all I needed....

The wind made a mess of Leona's hair, but there was no fixing it under those conditions....

I also brought along Jude, just in case the weather wasn't too terrible. I only set him in one spot on a snow-covered railing, with Jan standing close by just in case of a wind gust. Part of me thought it was cruel having him standing out there with bare arms and knees in such bone-chilling weather, but he wasn't complaining.....

He definitely needs to go back again on a nicer day......like in spring.....

You and Jan are intrepid souls indeed! And it shows in your fantastic photos! I think Leona's hair blowing around adds to the realism. Jude's a hearty highlands lad, so he's used to the cold. :-) He's so handsome and his outfit is amazing!

I'm just determined. I really wanted the photos, and we just haven't been getting any decent snow. I'd much prefer to go out when it's not so cold (it was so much easier back in early December when it was just around freezing) but there's more snow in the forecast later this week, and if we actually get it, then it will be too deep scale-wise for the dolls.

I really love Jude. His costume is mostly finished now. I made him a sheath for his dagger, and am still working on his broadsword. Right now he's still borrowing one from MacBeth, one of my old art dolls.

Jude is certainly not bothered by the snow. I like the next to the last photo when he is looking directly at the camera. I imagine him thinking that the snow is no bother at all.

I love seeing photos in the ruins at any time of the year!

I think I missed saying Happy National Flag Day to you on Monday.

I love photos of my dolls in the snow, but it wasn't the snow that was the issue that day - it was the extreme cold. If he was a real person he would not have wanted to have bare arms or legs at -20

I just finished The Christmas Story, Behind the Scenes, the KW dolls, and the pics of the new male doll playing William Wallace and his mate. Absolutely loved the story: you are a great director and producer! I did not realize I had visited your site before until I saw that costume for "The Lady Of The Night- gorgeous- I had pored over it months ago and fell in love with it! I wish I had your knack and creative "hutzpah" (sp?) to look at many disparate parts and see what the end product will look like! Kudos to a very talented lady!
