In the Ruins

12/4/2019

Yesterday afternoon we ventured into the Guildwood Park Ruins Garden with Lawrence and Baron. It was just at freezing, and I took a blanket along to spread on the snow so I could sit or lay down on it.  Even so, I still got wet and cold.  But it was definitely worth it.  I was so impressed with the photos that I just have to share some of my favourites today....one from each of the five settings...

The only thing that would have made it even more perfect, would be if it had been snowing lightly

..and my absolute favourite spot....

I will post more from each of the locations later in the coming days.
I even remembered to take some Behind the Scenes shots.

After seeing these fabulous guys I‘m in need to read a fantasy or historical novel. Just fantastic and with the snow the everything looks even better, everything is perfect.
Except you getting wet and cold. Maybe a blanket with a waterproof underside (some picknick blankets have them) could help with the wetness? A nasty cold is no fun.

Thank you! It was just the perfect amount of snow. Amy more would have been too much.

The blanket was plenty big enough until I had to lay down to take the photos. Then my legs were in the snow. Fortunately we don't live that far away, so I changed as soon as we got home.

Beautiful photos of your extremely handsome duo. I love the architectural background, which really adds a realistic medieval feeling.

You really go all out for your art - the damp snow and cold sound very unpleasant. Hope you got home quickly and warmed up, to avoid illness.

Thank you! I also love the architectural detail and possibilities in the Ruins. Like, where else would one find stuff like that for a background? Canada isn't old enough to have castles. Well, I do know of two, but they are not exactly accessible.

Oh, wow! They look amazing in that setting! (actually they look amazing in every setting, but this one is extra amazing). The photos are wonderful!

I hope you got home quickly to get dry and warm!

Thanks! I was really happy with the photos. That last one even surprised me in how good it was. I don't see all that well, and pretty much just look through the camera for placement of the figures into the background, then rely on auto-focus to do the rest. I never know exactly what I shot until I download the images on my computer.

I'm really loving these FIDs !

Oh yes, we went home right afterwards and I changed into dry clothes.

Dear Martha,

First, yeaaaa, behind the scenes shots! I can't wait to see them.

Second, the photos are lovely. There is something magical about the ruins. You always capture the silence and the peace there.

Extraordinary! It's like watching a fantasy film unfold. I wish I had a location like that near me.
