In the Garden

The two 'Starry Nights' gowns have been done for some time already, but the weather never cooperated for pictures, and then I got sick for three weeks, so I've not been able to take Carina and Asa anywhere for photos. But fall is here and many nights there's risk of frost, and tonight there's actually flurries in the forecast. So if I wanted to shoot anything in my back garden, today is the day. Tomorrow everything could be dead out there. So, out we went....

You'd never guess from the photos that it was just above freezing out there....
...especially when the sun was out....

Martha, they are beautiful! And they don't even look cold (laugh). Are you developing a new story line with them?

No, I don't do stories with the bigger dolls. They are way too big and heavy, and I don't have any props (or extra clothes) their size. They are pretty much limited to just standing around looking nice.

I'm just taking photos before I offer one of the outfits up for sale.

They are beautiful and so is your garden! The leaves at their feet give a hint of what's to come tonight.

My first thought when I saw them was that if they were real they'd be very chilly. It's pretty cold and windy here too.

Thanks! Jan has been bringing the flowers into the garage each evening when it's going to be too cold, so they can last as long as possible. Tonight it will be -3 with flurries. I expect all the hostas to freeze. I'm going to miss all the colour when everything does freezes It will be six whole months until anything comes up again in the spring.

But at least I got some photos taken today while the last of the flowers were still in bloom.

Wow, these gowns are ethereal. Your Carina and Asa look like fairy queens. Amazing work.

Exquisite photos! Love these. The ladies are beautiful, as are their costumes, and your garden background.

And yes, I'd never guess from just looking, that it was so cold!
