"I don't Want to Be a Horse!"

8/7/2016

Well, one thing leads to another, and after all the work changing the dolls and setting up
the scene, I had another idea, so sent Jan inside for one of my horses - the big tan one...

And ta-da....I had a second scene! The Fairy Godmother in the process of turning all
the mice into horses to pull the carriage. One tan mouse is already transformed....

The others weren't too sure they wanted to be horses...

But to help out Cinderella, they would do it....

Oh bless! What kindhearted mice they really are........awww! And what a brilliant idea for an extra scene too!
It just goes to show that it is worth having all these doll photography props!

The mice are very brave. Turning from a little mouse into such a big horse must be scary, but otherwise, how could they decline the wish of such a sweet little princess.

Hi Martha,

I saw your beautiful little "Royal" couple on the Wilde site. Totally stunning. How did you create the material in your little girl's dress?
You know I'm going to ask if you would ever consider making this set for me? Not anytime soon, but when it is convenient for you--even next year. I also want to know if you made the little dangly floral things in the Cinderella costume. Truly beautiful.

Hugs, Jill

Not sure what "Royal" couple you mean, since I don't post on the Wilde site.

The "dangly" things on the skirt itself are bridal flower strands, while the ones on the overskirt petals are beaded strands with flowers threaded in-between. Sorry, but these costumes are OOAK, and can not be reproduced.

I'm sorry, Martha. That was probably the Iplehouse site, where I saw your dolls. I was bouncing around this morning in between cleaning all the "stuff" out of my desk.
I wasn't asking for exact reproductions, but understand your reluctance to do too many of these very ornate costumes. If you ever change your mind, please let me know.
Hope it was OK to post this here. Jill

Well, even something close would be impossible, since nowadays stores don't carry a fraction of the fabrics and supplies they used to way back in the days when those gowns were made. Plus the costs would be completely prohibitive.

But this isn't really the place to talk about it, however it does give me the chance to reiterate once again that I no longer do commissions. Due to deteriorating chronic health issues I can't commit to anything anymore, and I just make clothes for my own dolls, and the occasional things for sale - things that I'm personally inspired to do.

I can totally appreciate that, Martha, but a girl can dream. I am so grateful for the beautiful outfits you did make for me. :o)
