Hiking and Biking

One of the main goals this past road trip, was to chronicle it by trying to take doll photos
like a 'real family going on vacation'. I think this set really turned out especially well. Arches
is quite a small National Park, but it's so beautiful with it's various red rock landscapes.

It's an ideal place to bike...

*Note - Sunshine is not good for resin dolls, and from my pictures it's easy to assume that my dolls were in constant exposure to bright sunshine. They were not. Each time we set up a scene, the dolls were shaded either by large umbrella or by one of us, until it was time to take the picture. So, just a very short exposure to the sun, and then back in the shade again as they were put back in their boxes. We even kept the shades down in the back of the RV where all the dolls in their closed boxes spent the day between photo sessions. I love my dolls and am very wary of exposing them to bright sunshine, but sometimes there's no choice, so I minimize it as much as possible.

Thank you so much for your note. I was seriously starting to wonder if I was drawing out the trip too much. We went to so many great places, and I'm barely halfway through.

Please show us everything you'd like to share.
And please give your husband a big hug from us for his help to create the lovely scenes. I think, he well-deserved it.

Thanks, I will!

Jan had a lot of fun helping with the doll posing, and many of the more interesting 'lifelike' poses were his idea. I find I'm often more preoccupied with the lighting and finding locations where the dolls would look in scale, so after I take the initial photos I'd wanted, then he'd often do something more interesting with them.

Thanks! I'm glad you are enjoying the photos. So far I've covered just the places we went the first week - there's still two more weeks to go.

I don't comment often, but I do enjoy your blog and your fabulous doll photos. I don't travel much, so it's especially enjoyable to see parts of the country that I wouldn't get to myself. Great job! Please keep the posts and pictures coming!

Thank you! I'm glad to hear I'm not boring you. There's still lots of places to come, but I think I'm going to have to take a break later this week - for Hallowe'en. While I'm reminiscing about our trip here, my kids are getting all excited about their new costumes and going Trick-or-Treating Friday evening.

I am more than happy to see the whole trip please, please, please And it really is a record of a family going on holiday....so clever!

And to my mind getting photos like this is well work the risk of a little sunlight damage....the real fun of the dolls is that they are played with. ((^_^))

My thoughts exactly! What fun would there be if I never took my dolls outside to 'play' with them?
