Hey Jude

My SartoriaJ Jude arrived on Christmas Eve, so he had to wait a few days before I could get to him. I did dress him in some spare FID clothes just so he wouldn't be naked. But he needed a wig...

So I made him a wig cap, and chose some 'dark blonde' mohair. It's actually called 'Antique Brown', and came from a goat named 'Pharaoh'. I had no idea what style I wanted, so sewed lots of fringes.

Then a few days went by, because I was way too preoccupied with my Christmas Story at the moment. I can't do everything at once, plus I need to be in the mood to attempt a wig.

So, another few days passed and I finally decided to 'take the bull by the horns' so to speak, and glue the mohair on his wig cap. I really didn't have a picture in my mind of what I wanted it to look like. Just that he was likely going to be Braveheart, so needed a long, unkept hairstyle.

So I glued on the mohair, wet and combed it, and tried it on him....

I didn't do any trimming at all, intending to wait until after he gets his outfit.
After it dried, I took a few more photos....

This is with no trimming, or fine tuning, at all.....

I just rubbed in a bit of hair gel (when the wig was off his head), so it wouldn't be too bushy....

It's definitely going to need some trimming, but I've decided not to mess around with it until after he has his outfit. Then I can decide just how 'rugged' I want him to be.

I think he is quite handsome and the wig is perfect just the way it is on him but I don't know the look you are going for.

He's going to become a 'rugged Scottish barbarian' with an outfit made of studded leather, chain mail, and a tartan kilt and cloak. Plus weapons.

Jude is one handsome dude! The outfit you describe could handle his wig just the way it is or with a little (but not too much) taming :o)
Actually he looks pretty good even when he's bald, kind of the Yul Brynner look.

It's actually the first time a wig looked good even before trimming and styling, so that's why I don't want to be trimming it right now. I did look closer at Lawrence, who also has the longer hair, and his wig is trimmed a bit at the sideburns around his ears. Jude's may need that too, but I'm too distracted right now to attempt anything. After all, it's not like I can put the hair back on once I cut it off.

He does look good bald in a close up, but not as a full doll. He has a very muscular body, and looks rather pin-headed without hair.

Dear Martha, I love the title Hey Jude. I began singing that song in my head.

I echo Donna. Jude has a very handsome face, even bald. I do like where you are going with the wig style.

Jude has a fantastic faceup. SartotiaJ has a top-notch artist who paints their dolls, and it shows. It's a lot finer and more detailed than any of my Iplehouse guys.

Hey Jude.. Sometimes post titles are just too tempting to resist ;). Another treat for the ladies. It's funny, he's all angles- and the parting of the wig or the way you placed it adds to the angles, or the way they correspond. But it still adds just that bit of asymmetry to make it more interesting, and it suits him very well. I'd love to see him next to Rex to get an impression of the family resemblance ;).

I'm almost afraid to take photos of him beside Rex. Jude's faceup is so much more superior, he makes Rex look rather 'plain'.

I love your Jude! I agree that SartoriaJ did a fantastic job with his faceup. So much detail. It really all adds up. I have a Jude as well but he's SD size. A handsome, handsome sculpt. I'm liking the wig as is especially because it doesn't look cut with a style in mind. Appropriate for a rugged, rough look.

As far as I know, they release their MSD size dolls every other month. So in October.
