Heading Out in the Snow

2/3/2015

With yesterday's snowfall, my 'Christmas Tree forest' is finally ready for winter photography. Jan had gathered all the real trees out on the curb after Christmas, cut them down to half, and mounted them in the upper garden. They've been waiting for some snow-cover ever since....

So I thought it would be the perfect opportunity to take a few photos of some of my other dolls - after all, I do have more than just little kids - and they rarely get the chance to come out. I'd made a new saddle blanket for my horse to replace the pink 'girlie' one he came with, so I took him, along with Kyle and Isar, 'into the woods'.....

*By the way, when I made Lisa's purple dress, I also made a duplicate, which is now up for sale.

What forward planning with the thrown out Christmas trees! I am so impressed by that, so very impressed!

And all the effort was so worth it.......safe journey Isar! And keep safe!

Jan has been making me a Christmas Tree forest the past few years. He drags the trees home, cuts them down by half and then secures them in the upper garden. It's the only way to get decent photos in the backyard without the ugly fence being the main background. The branches from the bottoms of the trees get cut and layered over my perennial beds. In the spring everything goes out to the curb for 'garden waste'.

Thanks! The horse could use a more realistic paint job too, but who has time for all that? At least I made a more appropriate saddle blanket.

I do love the rug! :D I have the appaloosa and I need to reroot the hair- some will-remain-nameless horse-loving little girl 'pulled her mane' (Because Cait, EVERYONE KNOWS that Appaloosas are known fro NOT having profuse manes and tails) and I think I'm going to do some paint touchups or repaint her entirely, as appies don't really scream 'High Fantasy" to me, and scale-wise, she ends up kind of draft-type to my dolls..

I had hoped to get another horse (or two) - different kinds - but now that Target is closing all it's stores in Canada I'm just going to have to wait until next time we take a trip into the USA. Oh well, saves having to find a place to store them.

I love these photos! The outfits are so amazing. No surprise there. Jan is such a sport!
