I got the idea originally from a tutorial by Ira Scargeer, but found using tulle was extremely messy and frustrating. Until I figured out a way to make it much easier. So, here you go....
I've put up a tutorial for how I make a hard wig cap. It's just for the cap itself. I will be adding tutorials to show how I add the hair when I make a wig. However adding the hair is anything but an exact science, so I thought I'd share the making of the cap first.

Thank you so much for taking the time and trouble to put together wig making tutorials! I am definitely going to try my hand at making one for my KID Lonnie boy.

The actual wig cap is the 'easy' part. Then comes the mohair. I took photos when I made David's and Phairby's wigs, and will take photos when I make the new wig for Isis. Then they will get turned into tutorials as well.

I like how you've reinterpreted Ira Scargeer's method. Sticking on individual pieces of tulle drives me crazy, too. Like you I get glue all over my fingers but the tulle won't stick. I've tried other fabrics but I never like the end result as much. As it happens I need to make a short white wig, so I'll try it this way and see how it works for me.

The wig caps turn out really well, and are nowhere as hard to make now that I figured out a 'better' way. The Gemtack glue I use used to get all over my hands, and I had a hard time removing it. But I guess that's a good thing. Means it's waterproof, which is what one really needs when styling the actual wig. It means you can wet it. Comments are closed.
