GLOW vs Standard Real Skin

6/3/2017

Someone on one of my Yahoo groups was asking about the difference between the GLOW Real Skin, and the standard  Real Skin. She wanted know if there was much of a difference, and if it was worth the extra $50, and if anyone had any pictures of the two resins together.

Well, I'd ordered two real skin dolls last year when Iplehouse discontinued their sculpts; a JID 'I' in GLOW RS, and BID Chloe in standard RS.  When they arrived, I was rather disappointed because I honestly couldn't tell the difference. They looked exactly the same to my eyes. Although after a second look 'I' did seem a touch darker and redder.

When Charie painted them, she said there was a difference after she applied the first coat of sealer.
Anyway, I took the two dolls outside this morning for a picture....
Picture
Isis ('I') seemed somewhat redder, but I thought maybe the bright blue sky was messing with their resin colours, so took them down to the studio for photos with more controlled lighting....

Yes, Isis is definitely a little darker, and redder. But it's hard to judge if she's really that much more 'translucent'. I guess people will need to judge for themselves if the extra cost is worth it.

Hmmm...it is definitely difficult to see a "translucent" quality to the Glow Skin. I'm trying to decide on the skin tone I should order for the new BID, Judith. I'm leaning toward RS...but, I'm not sure it seems worth paying the difference for Glow RS. Thanks for the photos and your opinions!

I don't know if there's a point getting GLOW with the tiny dolls. I have several in the current standard Real Skin, and they look just fine. Rather 'flat' and not translucent at all, but still very cute. Maybe the GLOW stands out more in the bigger dolls? So, when I ordered a second Owen as a friend for my Isis, I did give in and get him in GLOW Real Skin for no other reason that he'd match her. It will be interesting to see if he's any more translucent.
