It could probably still use some fine tuning, but I'm leaving it as is for now...
As much as I liked Jude's long, wild hair, I've been toying with the idea of seeing him in other outfits, ones that would require a shorter, more fashionable hair style. I didn't want to trim his existing wig, since once it's cut there's no going back. So I made him a second wig. I used the same mohair, in the same basic style, just half as long... I don't like making wigs. I know what I'd like it to look like in the end, but it's extremely challenging. Thankfully there was still enough of the original mohair left to make a second wig. Last time I just sewed the 4" - 6" mohair locks up the middle, making the wefts half of that. This time I cut the mohair in half, and sewed up the middle of that, then applied glue down the middle. After the glue dried I cut it into two strips (see my wig making tutorials) The strips look a bit messy with the mohair curling in every direction.... The mohair has a natural wave/curl to it, so it had to be glued onto the wig cap very carefully. For the front hairline I had to choose bits of mohair that curve the right direction and glue those on one tiny bit at a time, otherwise I'd be fighting the natural wave, and would never get the style I was looking for. It's very slow, painstaking work. I'm always pleasantly surprised when the wig turns out pretty much how I wanted it.
It could probably still use some fine tuning, but I'm leaving it as is for now...

That he is! I like him in both as well, but just thought having two wigs the same colour would mean more opportunities for a different look.

I love your wigs! Wish I could find some similar but it seems to be all either stick straight or frizz. He looks great in that hair color.

Thanks. I know, there really aren't any nice wigs for guys out there, so I make mine myself. The mohair I use always has some degree of curl to it, depending on the age of the goat it was sheared from, so that gives the wig some 'body'.

He is handsome all around, with short hair or with long hair.

I like him wirh the short hair too, but now he really needs different clothes.

Well, that was the idea. But even with the shorter hair his outfit still works, but instead of looking like a 'wild' Briton, he looks like a Roman centurion. After all Britain was under Roman occupation for centuries, and Braveheart's leather armour is basically 'Roman'. Comments are closed.
