There was an article in Thursday's Travel section of the paper entitled "Hidden Gems Nearby", and the main photo was of a gorgeous ruin at "the Guild" park in Scarborough. The article said there were more than 60 ruins scattered through the gardens overlooking the bluffs. So we went to check it out today - after all it might be a good spot for doll photography in the future. I didn't bring any dolls, but just went to have a look. How totally cool! Just fifteen minutes away, and I never even knew this place existed!

What a super spot for doll photos! When you consider the other seasons as well as summer, the possibilities must be endless. Just hope it isn't overrun by tourists...

That's what I was thinking too. The park is free, and I expect it's open all year, although I don't know if pathways get cleared of snow. I guess I'm going to find out.

Sure! We took Old Kingston Road to Morningside, but if you are unfamiliar with that exit, then the easiest is to take the 401 to Morningside, and take it all the way down to the lake where it ends on Guildwood Parkway. Turn right and after a few kilometers (past a high school) there's a dense woody area on the left. Skip the first two chain-link gates (which may or may not be open), but continue to the main entrance which has a big stone gate and sign. The main ruins gardens are at the back behind the fenced off crumbling old Guild Inn, although there are interesting things all over the property.
