Fun with Rachel

Our granddaughters come over almost every Saturday morning, and every now and then Rachel will bring one of her dolls so we can photograph her together - she with her phone, and me with my camera. The session started with her wanting her doll to be 'dancing'....

..and we went on from there....

Next, she sat down on the sofa, and Rachel chose a tea set from my collection....

...and she had a 'Bunny' tea party....

I always print out Rachel's favourites, and she takes them home to put into her album.

What a fun time you had. I love that the generations photograph differently, one with camera, one with phone.

How did you get the doll to stand on one leg? I have an Our Generation doll but I never tried that with her.

I love the bunny tea! I never would have thought of that. Many people have a teddy bear tea. I will have to think of bunnies the next time I plan a tea for my dollies.

These dolls don't hardly pose at all.

The 'dancing' doll has a stand. It's hidden behind her leg (mostly), and I covered the base with the carpet. If you look closely you can see it a bit behind her foot, and the carpet wasn't smoothed down enough either.

Her arms wouldn't hold up the fancy frame, so we ended up discreetly inserting toothpicks into her underarm joints (ouch!) That did the trick.

Oh, I see now. Thanks for revealing your magic trick.
I usually put my dolls on stands when I photograph them and I never know how to hide the stands. This is helpful.

It is quite remarkable what you are able to do to bring even a doll that is not not too pose-able to life :o) For Rachel to have the opportunity to take photos along with you is a great learning experience.

I love that last close-up of the bunny tea party.

After working with BJDs these dolls are super frustrating, but I do my best.

I try tell Rachel how to take 'better' photos instead of just shooting from anywhere. But when it comes to choosing which pictures to print, she never chooses the closer up shots (which I usually prefer) but always picks the pictures that have the entire doll in them.
