no it's not - the driftwood here really is that big....
Heading back towards Victoria, we stopped in at French Beach Provincial Park. The beach is a 'cobble beach' of large rounded stones and can be quite challenging to walk on, and is dotted with giant driftwood.... The boys came across some giant kelp.... "Whoa, this is cool!" They tried to pull some up the beach.... Watching for whales, but didn't see any... And just in case you think the driftwood is way out of scale to the dolls in the photos above,
no it's not - the driftwood here really is that big....

The boys with that giant kelp would make a great science fiction feature! You could call it "The Day of the Kelp".

Yes, it would! But it would be hard to shoot - those stones are painful to sit or lay down on. But then, kelp washes up on sand beaches too, and those are much better to sit down on.

You might be able to get your trusty helper to bring along one of those inflatable air mattresses :o)

Well I have to say I had never seen kelp before. It sounds they are hollow inside ?

Yes, they are hollow inside. They are very long seaweed, with their roots attached on rocks on the bottom, and standing straight up in deep water with leaves at the very top. When they wash up onshore, they look like giant snakes.
