Woke to an icy wonderland this morning, the likes of which I've never seen before. We are among the lucky ones, as we still have power, and most of our trees are still standing, although many are severely weighed down with all the ice. Many other people are not so lucky. Hundreds of thousands are without power, and trees and power-lines are down everywhere. Many of the trees along the boulevard are ripped to shreds. The aspens have been especially damaged. I didn't dare venture out of the house, so took some photos from my doors and windows...... ...and the freezing rain isn't over yet......

Do you know how long it might still be off? You can come here if it gets too cold, or you need to do something that takes power.

The ice continues to get thicker, and the trees are really have a hard time. We are lucky that we still have power. Many people don't, and it could be days before they get it back on.

Oh my that is terrible, not having power and with that temperature, I can't imagine something worse ! My thoughts are with you, hope you'll continue to be lucky and still have power and with all those people without power. At the same time, looking at your photos I couldn't help thinking it is beautiful, hope you don't mind I say that. Take care.

It is very beautiful, especially when the sun comes out. Then everything glitters and sparkles like diamonds. Maybe the sun will come out tomorrow.

We have underground power lines in our neighbourhood, but transformers can still blow. Some areas tend to lose power sooner than others. Both my sister and one son are still without power, as are many areas in Toronto.

The Northeastern US is having the same weather. I haven't seen anything like it since the ice storm of 1998. Like you, I've had no power loss at my house. No sunshine yet. We've had fog, which was especially eerie with all the ice. I used a screwdriver to chip away the ice that covered my mailbox. It's either that or no mail tomorrow.

I saw the satellite pictures, and this storm was gigantic. Just north of us they had snow instead, and that's not nearly as bad. Comments are closed.
