Fairies with Mushrooms

One of the things I'd most been looking forward to on our trip out west, was the possibility of finding some amanita mushrooms to take fairy photos with. Amanitas are beautiful, large mushrooms with orange-red caps dotted with white flecks - the classic fairytale mushroom.

I had come across several clumps of them on another trip out west five years earlier,
and took photos of my Ryung with them...

Well, there were lots of the poisonous amanitas along the campground road in Pacific Rim National Park, on Vancouver Island.

The morning we were packing up to go back to the mainland, I still needed to take some photos of my dolls with the mushrooms. I had maybe an hour. Jan came along to help. We set up at several different clumps of mushrooms, and I got down on the gravel road to take photos. The sun was spotty through the rain forest canopy, making the lighting a bit challenging. I took a lot of photos, and thought they were okay, but when I got home and downloaded them onto the computer, I was so disappointed that the vast majority were very blurry and out-of-focus. I have no idea why.

Most of the photos were way worse than these two.....

Fortunately, there were still a small handful of photos that were sharp enough to keep....

The sun through the trees was creating very harsh lighting, so we found another clump....

The fairy mice are absolutely beyond adorable. My friend and I could not stop oohing and ahhing over them.

The scenic photos are breathtaking as always. THANKS for sharing.
