Elizabeth I

9/7/2019

Today, September 7th, is the birthday of Queen Elizabeth I, born on this day back in 1533.

Three years ago some of my KIDs dressed up in my old Elizabethan Barbie costumes to help celebrate her birthday. Thought I'd share them again...

Absolutely outstanding outfits, especially considering they were made for Barbie. How on earth did you get them to fit Iple Kids? I would think the body shapes were completely different. Are they all open in back?

Thanks! I made those for a Home Economics project back when I was in grade 12. They look rather crude to me now, but then I was only 17 when I made them.

I think the costumes were open at the back. I do remember that I had to remove the doll's hands to get their arms through the sleeves.

Dear Martha, oh my goodness the costumes are exquisite .

You made them at age 17! That is amazing. They are filled with so much detail. I am sure your teacher was thrilled with the project.

Are any of your designs in a museum?

I won the award for top marks in Home Economics that year.

One of my sister's and my OOAK art figures - Leonardo da Vinci - was loaned to the Canadian Museum of Civilization for two years once upon a time, as part of a 'dolls as art' exhibit.
