Eden

I'm working on my new FID guy, Eden.  Yesterday I made him a wig.  I looked through my stash of mohair, and the one that suited him best was the same dark brown Rex's wig was made from.

I bought all my mohair years ago at local doll shows, from a woman who raised her own Angora goats, and sold their hair for doll wigs.  She would dye the mohair locks and put the names of the goats it came from on the packages.  Well, the goat Rex's mohair came from was named Eden.  So I took that as confirmation, and started sewing the strips for Eden's wig.

Making wigs has never been on my top hundred favourite things to do, but I had no choice, so plowed ahead.  After glueing, wetting, combing, and a lot of trimming, I thought he looked pretty good.  I borrowed Prince Adrian's hooded collar just for some pictures...

So today I'm starting his outfit.  I've made some underwear, socks, and pants, and am working on a shirt.  He's going to get something inspired by the costumes Kevin Costner wore in Prince of Thieves, which means lots of neutral coloured fabrics.  I pinned some on to see how he'd look....

I'm personally not a fan of browns, and greens, and much prefer the wine red of Adrian's collar, but Eden's outfit has to be able to blend into the woods, so browns, golds and green it is. His outfit will get the same embroidery and beading as Adrian's wine red collar, probably with a touch of blue to compliment Yvette's gown. I chose another gold fabric for the main part of his tunic, but it's going through the laundry this morning, to remove any sizing.

It's interesting that I thought Iplehouse had left off his faint freckles, because in person they are invisible, but in photos they do show up a little.  So they are there after all.

I love how he looks in that wig, but now I can’t help thinking of Anakin Skywalker from the prequel Star Wars movies. I’ve never seen the movies, personally, but Eden definitely has a similar look to that character in his new hair.

I can’t wait to see the custom you do for him. He’s so handsome!

I echo Sara. Eden is a handsome guy. His blue eyes will nice against the muted tones of his costume.

I love the dark wig on him and with his blue eyes, he's one handsome guy. Browns and greens are some of my most favourite colours, so I'll be looking forward to seeing his outfit.

P.S. I probably wouldn't tell him he is named after a goat :o)

Your wigs are spectacular and perfect for your guys. I wish I had that talent, but I think it's beyond me even with your excellent tutorials.

Thanks. Making wigs is mostly just luck, and is practically impossible to explain. Sure, the tutorials can describe how to make a hard cap, and sew the wefts, but it's impossible to explain how to cut the little sections of mohair to glue onto the cap. Just go for it, and hope for the best.
