Lonnie and Holly, along the Harbour with the Empress Hotel behind them...
The winters are so mild here, that they actually have some palm trees....
- a first for doing that in such a public place.
Victoria is the capital of British Columbia, and is a beautiful city, with many of the most popular sites centred around the inner harbour along the waterfront. It's always a busy place, so is one spot there's no avoiding people seeing what we are doing, so if I want to take doll photos there, then I have to seriously do my best to ignore everyone. Lonnie and Holly, along the Harbour with the Empress Hotel behind them... The Empress Hotel, from further along the Harbour walk. The winters are so mild here, that they actually have some palm trees.... Totem Pole on the street corner.... The parliament buildings are across the street from the harbour. There's another huge totem pole, carved by Cicero August of the Cowichan Tribe, and his sons, to commemorate the closing of the XIV Commonwealth Games in Auckland, New Zealand, and the beginning of Victoria's role as host of the XV Commonwealth Games in 1994. The figures on the pole represent lessons of the past and hope for the future. Leona and the kids take a break on the legislature lawn.... I had to lay flat on the grass so they would look in scale to the huge buildings behind them

Oh well done Martha. It was so worth you sprawling on the ground in public for these photos......they are fantastic!

For some reason Victoria doesn't intimidate me so much. I also took photos there in public three years ago, back when I really avoided doing that kind of thing. But as they say "Nothing ventured, nothing gained", so if I really want a picture, then I needed to make the effort. I thought it would be tiresome to have a whole series of nothing but 'hand-held' doll photos, and figured I really needed some with the entire doll in the picture, so thought of shooting them in the grass. I'm glad I did, as I love how those photos turned out. Comments are closed.
