The courtroom fell silent...

...and Adrian reached over to hold Kassia's hand.

"This poor girl watched in horror as the dragons devoured her beloved Prince..."

"...but there was even more to come."

"The jealous Fairy Queen then turned her anger towards Kassia..."

"...and transformed her into a cat."

'This is what you get for betraying me! You'll spend the rest of your life as a cat!'

'The only way to break my spell, and be returned to your human form again, would be.....that someone who looks exactly like your unfortunate lover.... should fall in love with you...even though you are a cat.'

'You cannot tell him that you are enchanted, or who you really are, or you will stay a cat forever.
You must convince this non-existent man that he must cut out your heart!'

"Poor Kassia was grief stricken."

" She was in shock, and barely noticed when another cat approached."

"I'm Lucy, Miss. I'm so sorry for what that Fairy Queen has done to you."

'I am one of the servants who lives in the castle. The Fairy Queen made sure you never saw, or knew about us.
But we knew all about you.'

'She's turned all of us servants into cats...before she, and all the other fairies, abandoned the castle.'

'So...you mean....I'm not all alone??'

'No Miss. I know this has been a horrific day....and you have suffered a terrible loss....
but know that you are not alone....and we will be here for you.'

'All of us will get through this together.'

Wow! I thought the prince would be saved, but this fairy Queen was totally bad.

Nope. This is the back story to the original French fairytale - why the Princess was transformed into a White Cat. The original fairytales could be rather violet, and didn't always have happy endings either. It would seem that people weren't so squeamish back then. Although this story did eventually have a happy ending.

I agree with this and would like to add that this is continuing today. If you look at the success of formats like True Crime, CSI, Game of Thrones ...

But I have to admit that I only love happy endings:-)

That's true. But in books one only reads about it and you don't have to actually see it. It's all left up to the reader's imagination. Which is why I've never watched any of those popular shows. They are way too graphic for me. I'd love to see a good Fantasy or historical movie, but there's a limit to how much violence I can take. In my opinion they could still make a great film or program and create drama and tension without all the graphic extremes.
