The cottage walls are slowly taking shape. After doing the underpainting, I stamped on the stonework with block-shaped sponges.... I had cut some cheap sponges from the dollar store into different sized blocks - three blocks in each height. Then I chose a bunch of paint colours, which were poured onto a plastic plate, and I used them to stamp on the stone blocks... Then the 'stucco' was sponged onto the upper sections. Strips of thick cardboard were cut to make the 'timbers' for the Tudor style walls. After painting, sanding, and a second coat, the 'timber's were glued on. Boxes of paint, and various jars from the pantry were used to press them down to help the timbers dry flat.....

Yes, once again, thank you for sharing your knowledge - I'm STILL not sure I know what underpainting is . . . I wish I could live in your mind for awhile, lol. Also not sure what you mean by thick cardboard - at first I thought maybe corrugated cardboard, but probably not? Also, not sure why you're sanding it?

Underpainting is the base coat that will show between the 'stones' as mortar.
