Cinderella's Gown

"Another of my favourite childhood stories was Cinderella."
Picture
"As an orphan myself, I could relate, and imagine what it was like for her...."
Picture
"There were so many different versions of the story, and in all of them Cinderella's Fairy Godmother would come to her rescue, and send her to the Prince's Ball, wearing the most gorgeous, magical gown. I used to dream about wearing such beautiful dresses."
Picture
"I'm not surprised.  I know several Fairy Godmothers, and they all possess the most extraordinary fashion sense."
Picture
"Well yes, but even though I loved Cinderella's beautiful ballgowns..."
Picture
"... what really inspired me in the story, was how her little friends, the mice, had altered one of her mother's old dresses to make something special so Cinderella could go to the ball."
Picture
"Cinderella loved that dress, and I always cried when her stepsisters later ripped it to shreds."
Picture
"Anyways, my grandmother still had some of my mother's old dolls. Some of their clothes had seen better days, while others had lost their dresses altogether. I decided I wanted to fix them up, and sew new clothes for the ones that needed it. I figured if mice could do it, then so could I...."
Picture
"So I asked my grandmother to teach me to sew...."
Picture
"...and I set to work...."
Picture
"....making new gowns for my mother's old dolls."

Wonderful way of weaving in her fashion designer background.

Well, you did it again! I could not have guessed this part. It is so touching and it makes perfect sense.

Little Naomi is certainly talented.

I suspect that she will be faced with a choice later on....will she stay in her very own Cinderella story or go back....Love conquerors all.

Each episode is a delight, both to the eyes and to the heart.

I love Miho's comment about knowing several fairy godmothers! And I love how you have Naomi posed in that scene. I can almost hear her thinking, "Okay, I've had tea with a dragon, I'm sitting here with a Fairy Queen, why shouldn't she know a few fairy godmothers!"

Thank you.

I've learned a lot over the past few months with posing dolls to try capture expressions related to what they are supposed to be saying. At the beginning it was just 'hit and miss', since 'conversations' were photographed well before I took the photos relating to what they were going to be talking about. So I had to make do.

But with this whole final dinner conversation I had the luxury of already having taken most of the photos for Naomi's back story, so I knew what the characters were going to be talking about, so I took dozens of photos from all angles, changing the doll's poses and eye positions, all so I'd have plenty of expressions to choose from if I needed something specific.
