Christmas All Year

9/10/2019

The Resin Cafe doll forum held a 'virtual conference' to coincide with the BJD Conference in Austin the last weekend in August, and held a photo contest with their theme of "Christmas all year".  The theme had been announced two years ago already, and I thought it would be fun to do something unexpected, like Christmas Day at the beach. After all, how many places actually celebrate Christmas in winter, or have snow on the ground?

However, as the deadline for entries approached, I had to rethink a beach scene, since the local beach area had been 'improved' last year, making access much more difficult, especially with a load of dolls and props.  So we took everything to our son's backyard pool instead....

Everyone was in their swimsuits, relaxing around the pool.

The winners were announced yesterday, and my entry came in second.

Congratulations!!! Your photos are so cute. That was a clever idea to set Christmas by the pool. Santa is truely enjoying himself.

Thanks! I thought it would be a lot easier by the pool, with no-one there to watch.

Congratulations! The photos are delightful and hilarious at the same time. Santa in his old fashioned bathing suit and sunglasses is priceless!

Thanks! Santa just makes me smile every time I see him in these photos.

He is actually just wearing his 'fat-suit', that he wears under his clothes to bulk him up. It just happens to be striped like an old-fashioned bathing suit.

I did make all the elves new bathing suits to match their elf hats.

Congratulations, the scene is so real looking and cute, too. It makes me smile despite a really miserable day. I hope you did win something nice.

These are wonderful and so colorful! How great to have a lovely pool at your convenience for photos! I think the contrast of the classic elf clothing with swimsuits is hilarious and brilliant.

Our son has a huge house with fantastic backyard, so he's the one who hosts all our family get-togethers. But I only take advantage of their pool area for photos when we are asked to look after their cat and plants while they are away.
