I'm working on knitting a simulated chain-mail vest and collar for someone's doll. I'm no knitting expert and wasn't confidant that I could do it, but agreed to try. It's one thing when I knit a bit of simulated chain-mail from silver crochet thread for a sleeve that's just peaking out from under an elaborate fantasy costume, but it's quite another when it's the over-garment. Anyway, I'll see what this ends up looking like when it's done....right now it's not exactly looking very promising.....

Its always exciting learning new things, I cannot wait to see your outcome. Is that #3 cotton thread or the basic #10 doubled? Looks pretty so far Martha.

It's just #10 silver crochet thread. Single ply. I'm using the largest sock needles I have so the texture is more open like chain mail would be.

Somehow I think it will end up being amazing!

I wasn't sure, but in the end I think it turned out okay. I think I'm past fake chain mail, and really want the real thing for my own dolls. One thing for sure, it's making me want to make some fantasy outfits for my dolls who are still waiting.

And even then it still looks odd. It looks best actually on the doll.
