The one I plan to finish next will be the pale green one which will get covered in pink roses. Then there's more details to sculpt for the final two, one of which will get cute 3-D animal pillars, and the final one which needs some sculpted blackberries. Then I'll be able to clean up and get my kitchen table back again.
I'm still working on doll cakes. Of course it didn't help that I decided to add four more to the six I initially started with. Anyways, this is what my workspace looked like this morning. Six are finished and ready to be varnished.... The chocolate one still needs most of the 'chocolate' pieces glued on.... I'm rather disappointed by the thick 'drip' lines - even though I did the best I could - but I did make some cool decorations, including ever so small sliced almonds, textured Ferrero Rocher chocolate balls, and tiny Oreo cookies. I used a metal filagree bead to press the impressions into them.

WOW!!! That's the first word that comes to mind, closely followed by wonderful, beautiful, amazing, incredible and a whole lot more. And they are all so small and you would never know it to look at them.

Thanks. They are fun to make. Now to throw the parties some them were meant for.

I love these so much! I think the drips on the chocolate cake look great! You have an absolute plethora of ideas!

Thanks. I 'm perfectionist and see all the shortcomings in each and every one. But then most people who make things have the same problem.

These cakes are so realistic. I am sure that the birthday children will actually try to take a bite. I would be tempted (laugh).

At this point I think they just enjoy having one to be photographed with on their special day.

Some of them are for birthdays that won't be happening for months, but I find it's best to make more than one at a time and get them all done at once.

They aren't that hard to make, but there's lots of drying time involved - sometimes an entire day - so they make a great side project while working on other things. Comments are closed.
