Busy....

I've been very busy the past few weeks, working on so many things at once, as well as trying to go out for doll photos every time we had a decent day. The trees are well past prime, and it won't be long now before they are bare, which means only a little time left to take autumn or late summer photos outside anymore.  In fact the night temperatures are getting too unreliable to leave the houseplants outside any longer, and Jan is getting tired of dragging them all into the garage every time there's a frost warning. So yesterday all the hibiscus and Christmas cactuses came back inside for another year. My kitchen is a jungle again, until at least next May.....
Picture
This is what's left outside.....it still looks pretty good, but won't last too much longer....
Picture
I finished all the books I was working on....
Picture
...and started a Halloween costume that I've been wanting to make for a few years now....
Picture
But it goes very slow because too many other things keep interrupting.  Like that outfit for Raillie I had just two days to make.  And all the doll photos I've been taking. Most are for a story which won't be starting for a while yet, but this is how it ends.....
Picture
Plus I have five pairs of shoes under construction.  The Medieval Fantasy women are all wearing totally unsuitable footwear, but no one can see it, so it hasn't been an issue. Except I KNOW what they have on their feet, and they all really need a proper pair of shoes....
Picture
I have five sets of JID and FID heeled feet in stockings wrapped with plastic, to form the shoes on, and the uppers are very slowly taking shape. Black with red for Monica, green for Grace, blue for Yvette, purple brocade for Bianca, and gold for the gold gown no one is currently wearing. Once all the decorations have been attached, they will get another layer of plastic wrap, and the soles and heels will be sculpted out of Aves Apoxie.  So still lots to do.

Plus I have a little someone who turns one next week, so she deserves a proper birthday party. Which means setting up and taking lots more photos.

And I received the shipping notice for FID Edan two days ago, which is a lot sooner than I was expecting. There's no way I can have his outfit ready for when he arrives, so he and Yvette will just have to make do with borrowing 'Outlander' outfits, or going super fancy contemporary. I'll see.

And if all that isn't enough, Halloween is almost here.  There are pumpkins to carve, and costumes for some dolls to dress up in.  So I better go do something....

Wow, you do have a ton of things going on.

The garden is still pretty. I am so used to seeing dolls there that it looks "doll size" to me (smile).

The sweethearts are so cute. One of her beads is sticking up and I thought for a moment she had a tattoo on her shoulder, which I think would look adorable but I know that is not the look for her.

The little shoes are sweet. I am sure that the ladies will be happy to wear them.

You worked your magic with the books. They look appropriately old.

I can't wait for the upcoming birthday party.

I wouldn't be as busy if I wasn't trying to photograph my old cloth dolls, and shooting scenes for my White Cat sequel, trying to stay ahead of winter coming.

I need to start working on the baby's birthday today. I shot one scene two months ago, and another a month ago. There's four more to address this week.

Incredibly busy, I'd say! Your garden is so beautiful - like a special secret garden. Your kitchen seems more like a solarium! Having all that greenery surrounding you makes the winter seem not quite so long.

The books look realistically old and well used.

There will be many new stories coming soon! I can't wait :o)

Your ladies will be delighted with their beautiful new shoes, which look like they would be as comfortable as they are attractive (humanly speaking).

That end of the kitchen is a solarium, but with a solid roof. The eating area of our kitchen was way too small when we had our third child, so Jan put on the addition. It has a peaked roof so plants can get hung up there without being too much in our way.

Yes. there's lots coming. I've been taking so many photos, sometimes several scenes in one day. Then of course I have to process them.

You would laugh if you could see what my ladies are wearing under their gowns; Grace has on some big black boots, Yvette is also wearing some pink suede boots, Rosie has white Victorian boots under her gown, Monica and Bianca have Tonner high heels that are constantly falling off. I can't wait until their new shoes are done, but they aren't priority, so aren't moving very quickly.

I love hearing about all your projects. That's one thing I love so much about my love of dolls is that I always have something to do. If I sew anything, seems I'm a very terrible sewer, it's all by hand and takes forever. But it's still a fun project. And, of course, I always have faceups and body blushing for myself and others. Although not as skilled as you, I really do enjoy photography. It's such a fun way to share the doll love especially now with this social distancing. I typically have a Halloween doll party this time of year. It will be missed! I think your solarium/dining area looks wonderful with all the pretty plants! I know what you mean about the shoes and you knowing what's under the long dresses! Too cute!

I guess it's good to be busy in these crazy time, but sometimes it's a little overwhelming. But then I was never one to just work on one thing at a time.

Martha, you never cease to amaze me with your talent! Where in the world do you find all those "findings"? i.e., on the books - they are fantastic - thanks for the link to the video! And I couldn't agree more that your garden looks like a "Secret Garden' (I live in the desert, but am originally from the Midwest, and my mom was a fabulous gardener)

The book corners came from Michael's, and the medallions on the front covers came out of my stash. I have no idea where they originally are from.
