On Sunday we packed a bunch of dolls into the car and headed over to the McLaughlin Estate, and the Botanical Gardens in Oshawa in hopes of maybe taking some doll photos there. But it wasn't to be. Everything was just too large a scale for the dolls I'd taken along. So I ended up back at home in my own garden. Here's Lisa with the bridalwreath..... One thing I did get a lot of photos of at the Botanical Gardens, was the peonies. This coming weekend is their Peony Festival, and by then the regular peonies will be in bloom. But last weekend it was the tree peonies that were in bloom. I think I actually prefer them.....I love their huge blooms with the frilly petals. Some flowers were gigantic! And I love the colours they come in.

We have peonies, though ours got beaten down in the last few rains (happens every year--my neighbor swears she knows when a big storm is coming because our peonies are usually in full bloom).

My peonies always fall down too - as do almost all the ones I see. You'd think with such huge, heavy flowers, the plants would have developed stronger stems.

Oh gosh the peonies are beautiful. I never ever have had luck growing them but my sister can!
