I had resewn the chainmail sleeves so they'd be 3/8 of an inch shorter. I also thought his kilt was a touch too long, so cut off the waistband and sewed on a new one, so a little of his legs would show.
With most of Jude's outfit finished, I had to take some photos of him, before I took down the castle.

Thanks. I'm pretty pleased with it myself. I think at some point I will make a new cloak and kilt out of something a touch more colourful, but since fabric stores are out of bounds right now, it will just have to wait.

Thanks. I hope to be able to make more of the outfits I've always wanted to, before I can't anymore.

He looks wonderful! I did some work with pleather a while back and it nearly killed my poor fingers! Can't imagine how tough this was but a gorgeous result.

Thank you. Working with leather is always a challenge, even when it's thin. I use a special leather needle, but it still requires a thimble to push it through all the layers. Which is why things like this always take a little while to do. Can't do it all at once.

Awesome. FYI, true measurement of a kilt is from the belly button to the middle of the knees. Kneeling on the floor is how it was measured. :-)

So it's the perfect length in front then - not that I was going for any kind of historical accuracy. I wanted it to resemble more the old traditional kilt where they just folded a big piece of tartan over their belt. But I didn't want to deal with the accuracy of the longer fabric in the back being pinned up on one shoulder to look like a cloak. I made a separate 'skirt' and cloak, for no other reason than I liked the final look better.

He looks ruggedly handsome. I like that you used candle light in the photographs.
